True Love for Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is known as a day of love. Heart shaped candy's, boxes, balloons, etc. But where does human love come from? Where else but from God. God is Love, it is He who has given us the ability to love. When we love someone else, it is only possible because God has given us that love.

Have you ever stopped to consider the depths of God's love for us? It completely blows me away every time I think about it. God loved me and you and the rest of the world so much that he gave us His only Son. Now consider this, would you give away any of your children? How about if it was your only child? Sometimes people do give up their children, as in the case of adoption. However, they usually do so because they love the child so much and recognize that they cannot possibly take care of the child in the way he/she needs to be cared for. When they give that child up, they fully trust that the people to whom they give the child will care for that child, love and nurture that child and provide for the child's well-being. In other words, they know the child will be loved and cared for.

Now consider Jesus. God sent his only son into the world. He entrusted him to humanity, fully knowing that Jesus would not be loved or taken care of at the end of his time here. Knowing what we were going to do to His only child.......knowing His Son would be beaten, crucified, and suffer terribly at our hands. He knew all this and yet He loved us so much He was willing to do that. I can't even fathom that kind of love. I can't imagine why God would choose to love me that much, but the reality is He does. He loves all of us that much. He loves us the way no human being on earth has or ever can. He loves us like we were His own child.

The Bible is full of His love for us........check it out.

All in a Day's Work - The unbelievable

So, I hear really great excuses all day long. This or that doesn't work, it's defective, this item just spontaneously self-destructed.....you name it, I've probably heard it. Not that all of them are bogus, but you just kind of get a sense of when someone's not being straight up with you.

I had one of the most unusual returns I've had yet today. A lady brought back one of those baby dolls that makes sounds and "talks." Personally, I think a doll that calls you "Mama" is creepy anyway, but that's a whole different issue. Well, this doll is supposed to coo, and say mama, and laugh and, just be cute. So, the customer plops the doll down on the counter and tells me she wants to return it because it says, "Islam is the light." She goes off to find another one to exchange it for, and I have this obnoxious cooing baby going off on the counter behind me. Which every so often does indeed say exactly what the customer claims it says. Lovely! I checked it out, apparently this is not the only one.......there has a big uproar since they were discovered several months ago. I just hadn't been aware of the problem until I actually encountered one. There are a lot of skeptics who claim it is just making 'baby noises.' WHATEVER.....I heard it myself, it's pretty darn clear exactly what it is saying. So, now we're handing our children toys with subliminal messages programmed into them. What other things are me missing, because we think we misheard something?

Maybe, I'm wrong, but you can check it out for yourself and decide.

All in a Day's Work - Stupidity

Shoplifting is on the rise as of late. People can't afford many things, so they steal them. Stealing is wrong, no matter how you look at it. I don't endorse it in any way, but if you're going to do it, being somewhat intelligent about the whole thing might be in your best interest.

Today at work, the maintenance man brought me a stack of empty cases belonging to DVDs, CDs, and other small items. "Here, I found these in one of the departments, along with this." He hands me, a receipt from a motel. "This was with the items on the shelf." Okay, you're joking right? No! Our thief left their actual receipt from their motel stay, sitting with the items they stole. Let's see, all we had to do was call the police with the name, and they did the rest.

Should that individual continue to attempt their life of crime, I have no doubt they will likely appear someday on America's Stupidest Criminals. Don't steal, you will get caught.

All in a day's work - Wastefulness

Okay, life has been so crazy, I haven't had time to stop and think, let alone write, about anything. But I decided to take a break and rejoin the blogging world.

The economy sucks.......we all know that, it's not a surprise to anyone anymore. However, working in customer service I'm seeing the reality of it all. The stacks of returns are nearly as bad as they were after Christmas. It's insane. Of course, there are also people who buy a lot of garbage they don't need and can't afford, so a lot of that is what I return. But it aggravates me how wasteful Americans are. Please don't think I exonerate myself in any way, I could be more frugal in many ways. The Wal-mart I work at is a super center, meaning we sell food. So people return food. I can understand returning something that is expired, moldy, recalled.....but just to buy food you don't need and then bring it back. That I don't understand. Particularly when every food item that comes back through the doors, must be claimed. This means, it NEVER EVER goes back to the sales floor, it goes directly to the nearest garbage can. For real! It can be completely sealed, in it's original package, purchased 3 hours ago.........it doesn't matter. If it leaves the store, it may have been tampered with; for that reason, it can not be resold. When I look at the amount of returned food, it makes me sick. At my workplace alone, we probably throw away $200-$300 dollars a day. EVERY DAY.........you know how many people could be fed with all that food. A lot. There are millions of people starving in this world, and Americans are just throwing food away. Donate it to a food bank, something, but return it just to be thrown away.........I don't get it.
